The Morehead State men's and women's bowling teams traveled to Smyrna, Tennessee to compete in the 2018 Collegiate Club Championships on April 7th and 8th. Both teams had a great showing and performed very well both days of the tournament. The Women's team finished in 2nd place and the Men's team finished 3rd.
The Women's team initially qualified at the bottom of their pool after some beginning struggles, though went on to win both of their double elimination bracket matches on Saturday, one of which being the top seed of another pool. The girls lost their first match on Sunday, moving them to the contender's bracket though ended up winning both of the necessary matches in order to win the contender's bracket and fight their way up to the finals match, where they ultimately fell to the tournament champion: Bowling Green State University.
The Men's team qualified third in their pool and also won all of their matches on Saturday. They won their first match on Sunday, but lost their second to move them to the contender's bracket. Once there, they managed to win one more match before being eliminated in the final match of the contender's bracket to the tournament runner-up: Wright State University.
On top of the team accomplishment, there was also a few big individual accomplishments as well. Freshman Amy Fortuna was selected as a Club All American finalist and another freshman, Courtney Chaffin, was voted on by the coaches at the tournament to the All Tournament Team. Congratulations goes out to the Women's team as well as these outstanding student athletes!
